In case you missed my email on Wednesday…

I am sorry that I had to leave you.

A lot of you have been with me for years. I gave you everything I knew, every single time, and I never once held a thing back.

Two years offline was the first time in over a decade I got quiet enough to actually hear my own work.

And in that stillness I finally understood the thing I'd been doing for other people for twelve years without ever being able to name it.

It's the same reason it's hard for me to post, too. And it's why so many people, doing everything right, still get silence back.

I never withheld the magic from you. I just didn't understand it well enough to hand it over. Now I do.

So here it is, plainly.

Fine is the kiss of death.

Fine could have come from anyone, which means it landed on no one.

The post that flops and the post that pays aren't separated by the caption or the hour.

They're separated by the idea, and the idea was usually dead before you typed a word.

I spent twelve years and 175 million dollars of other people's growth learning this, which appears to be the only way I learn anything.

In all that time I have never once sold a lie, and I'm proud of that. If a thing didn't work, I didn't sell it. I never dressed something up to look like more than it was.

But like you, I didn't know what I didn't know.

The reason posts work became second nature to me, so automatic after twelve years that it felt like breathing, and I never stopped to explain it.

That's the whole problem. It isn't like breathing to you.

The marketing world did you a disservice here, me included, and not on purpose.

Nobody stopped to ask why any of this actually works.

Social media is loud by design, and loud is hard to stop in, hard to think in, so almost no one gets quiet enough to see the foundation under it.

That's what this is. Me finally stopping to explain the ground you're standing on.

PostIdeas Newsletter is where I start, because it's built for the exact thing most of you replied to me about.

You post, and it lands in a silence you can hear.

You did everything they told you.

Maybe you even did everything I told you.

You fixed the hook. You posted consistently. You tried the sound, the hour, the format everyone swore by last month.

Still silence.

They weren't lying to you, exactly. Those things are real. They're the last five percent.

And you've been sanding the last five percent of something that was already dead when you chose it.

And yet you still watch other people grow every week.

Same niche, worse content, way more engagement.

Inside yesterday’s newsletter: what they're actually doing, why it's working, and 20 post ideas that sell without trying.
